What size carport do I need?

Single Car Carport

If you need a carport for a single car we suggest a 12’ wide carport ranging from 20’ – 25’ long. If you wanted to go wider then 12’ wide we recommend an 18’ wide.

Double Carport

If you need a carport to cover 2 cars we strongly suggest a 24’ wide carport. Many manufacturers will try to sell you an 18’ or 20’ wide cover, however that is not wide enough to house 2 cars or trucks and open the doors. See our photos and video below showing the comparison. TIP: You can go wider if you would like to, however we strongly suggest to go no less the 24’ wide!

Triple Carport

For a triple carport we suggest to go with a 36’ wide clear span building. The commercial buildings are more expensive so if you are looking to get the same amount of space covered for a better price we recommend to go with a Heritage Barn or an American Straight Line Barn.

RV Cover

First and foremost, it is important to know the height and length of your RV. We can accommodate any height or length of RV you may have. Once you have determined the size and height you can start customizing your cover. We recommend purchasing no less than the 18’ wide. If you go too narrow, it makes it difficult to back/drive into the cover. Also, if you have slide outs that you want to have open to clean it or have them open because you live in your RV it is important to allow enough space around your camper. Learn more about RV and Boat Covers.

What roof style is best for me?

Standard Roof

The standard style is a very common roof style which has rounded corners and the metal runs horizontally (front-to-back) it is the same price as our boxed eave option. The panels may occasionally trap leaves, snow, and other debris in severe weather conditions, also small amounts of water may seep in through the seams and over time can rust behind the ribs where moisture can build up. We strongly do not recommend this style on buildings longer than 30'.

Boxed Eaves Roof

The Boxed Eave roof style is very common, it has an A-Frame roof and the metal runs horizontally (front-to-back). The panels may occasionally trap leaves, snow, and other debris in severe weather conditions, also small amounts of water may seep in through the seams and over time can rust behind the ribs where moisture can build up. We strongly do not recommend this style on buildings longer than 30'.

Vertical Roof

The Vertical style is best-looking carport and the strongest. More metal is used for constructing the roof thus automatically giving you a sturdier carport. The metal runs vertically allowing debris and snow to slide off which keeps moisture from building up and causing rust over time. This allows a much longer life span of your metal roof.

What happens if building installation/delivery is unsuccessful?

If our driver is unable to deliver your building due to limited access to the site or because the site has not been properly prepared, a 10% fee will be charged. This fee must be paid to the driver at the time of attempted delivery; a new delivery date will not be scheduled until the fee has been paid.

How should I prepare my building site?

Prior to the delivery of your building, it is crucial to ensure your site is level. We recommend the ground be level within 4" front to back and side to side. Improperly prepared sites may delay the setup or construction of your structure and result in additional fees.

Does my steel building come with anchors?

All of our steel buildings come with either rebar anchoring or concrete anchors. We do have an upgrade option to purchase auger-style anchors for your building as well.

Does Heritage handle grading and concrete?

We do not do site grading or concrete. If you choose to have your building on concrete, we recommend our customers work with a grading and concrete company and have concrete poured at least 2 weeks before your building installation date.

Do I need building permits?

The customer is fully responsible for checking local building requirements to see if any permits are required to construct the building.

Can I live in my Heritage Steel building?

Yes! Popularly called "barndominiums", you can convert your custom steel building into living quarters. Heritage will install the shell structure in the manner that we install all of our steel buildings. We do not finish it out but recommend you work with a general contractor to achieve your steel building living space goals.
